Excalibur Skimmer Won't Skim!

Hey Everyone -

I just got a hang-on Excalibur HV1 skimmer to replace my old skimmer. I have read on this forum where it is easy to use and have even seen some pictures posted. However, I CANNOT get this thing to make bubbles. It only came with one air tube (do I need more?) which was already attached to the RIO 800 pump.

Obviously I am missing something here... do I need more air tubes and, if so, where do they go? Thanks!

how long has it been set up? Skimmers have a break in period, uauslly about 24 hours to get going good, post some pictures though it will really help

Ste6168, he said he is getting no bubbles. This sounds like more than a break in proplem. He should still be getting bubbles.

Is the air line restrcited? Try putting some warm water down the tube.

yeah i guess i didnt really read to thourghouly, what about trying to blow down the air tube to force air through, would that work? If he gets bubbles when he blows in the airline then it has to be clogged or something right?

If you blow into the airline and get bubbles, then pump should do the sme thing. I would like to see the hang on the back model, is it anything like the typical HOB's that have the filter in the tank that the airline goes thru?
