Excellent Sebastian inlet dive

Hi All
Yesterday, 6/6/06 wow:eek1: , I went down to Sebastian Inlet for a late afternoon snorkel dive. High tide was 5pm. It was excellent. I saw all kinds of fish: porkfish, french and queen angels. damsels, high hats, school masters, mangrove snapper, hugh sheepshead, toad fish, assorted bleenies, etc. You could hear the clicking and snapping of the pistol shrimp, and mantis shrimp. I found an old cast net that was hung up on a rock and brought it to shore. There was a few fish and crabs which I dislodged and let go. Except for one. A leapord grouper which was kind of beat up. I decided to put it in my tank to try and let it heal. If not then the crabs will have a good meal.

Yeah, I would love to know where you went snorkeling there. I have gone jetskiing in the inlet but I am not sure if I would snorkle out there. Its really rough and the current is strong in the inlet.

beaker? you there? anyone? Bueller?

I am going out there tomorrow afternoon. I guess I'll just ask the park rangers where to snorkel. I hope I see some good stuff.

Sorry dave my computer is giving me problems. If you went yesterday around 3pm and saw another diver that was me. The place to go is the south side of the inlet between the fish cleaning station and the dock. If you give me a heads up I'll try to meet you there

I am going to be there tomorrow(6-10-06) at about noon. I am just going snorkeling though. I am certified for diving but I dont have any equipment and I do not know where to dive out there. But I have snorkeling gear and will be using it there.

And this may be a stupid question but when you say the south side of the inlet do you mean out in the ocean off the beach? Arent the waves pretty big there? I used to jet ski there and jump the waves in monster hole and it was rough out there!

Sorry dave. Its at the south part of the inlet west of the bridge. You have to drive down toward the camp ground and boat launch. You'll see the dock just before you get to the camp ground. Park near the public restrooms. As I said before it's between the fish cleaning station and the dock. I'm heading down today also maybe I'll meet you there.
