Exchange on 175w hamiltons?

The Premium Aquatics team:

I just placed an order with your excellent company and within the order came 2 Hamilton 175w bulbs. The invoice number was 77276. The bulbs are horribly dim and their colors do not match. One is more blue than the other. What are my options? I have a pulse start ballast and wonder if that is why they are not as bright as they should be. I wouldn't mind exchanging for 10k 175w ushios and paying the difference. Thank you for your time. I look forward to your response.

Hi Stephen,

Sorry about the bulb problems. They have been a pretty good bulb, but they are a asian lamp and we have seen some consistency problems with some of the asian lamps. Although they have been one of the better asian lamps.

The pulse start shouldn't effect it's performance, so most likely just got two bulbs that were made slightly different. The dimness is more of the 14k, so if you go to a 10K ushio, you will see a big increase in brightness, just will loose the blue tint.

We have two options for exchange. Either ship back and we just exchange and charge/refund difference. Or you can buy your ushios now and then ship back the 14k and we refund your card, just so you don't have to wait as long. What ever you prefer.

Hey Jason. I have already spoken to Corey and we set up an order for the Ushios. The RA# will apparently be included in the package containing the Ushios. As a reference, the invoice number for the new order is 77771. Thank you for taking the time to answer some of my concerns.

I am a bit taken by surprise at your suggestion that Hamilton's are Asian bulbs. Under the Ushio 10k 175w description, you have this printed:

Made in Germany (hamilton/ushio brand)

This led me to believe that Hamiltons are German bulbs made of the same quality as Ushios. You might want to correct this apparent typographical error to avoid future confusion. Again, thank you for your time and patience. Best of luck.

Sorry about the confusion. Your original order was 14K Hamilton. Those are asian made lamps. The 10K often labeled BLV, Ushio, or Hamilton are german made lamps.

I see... I should have been more cautious. Maybe you could include the fact that the 14k 175w Hamiltons are Asian bulbs in their description. It might help some others in their bulb selection process... Thanks again for the top-notch service.

We are planning on dividing the lamps into Asian and then German/Japan, or maybe high end and lower/medium end lamps. They never tell us where they are actually made, but usually if the price is really low, it's not german!!

Thanks for your time... I highly doubt I will have any problems with the ushios. I have used them before, and was very happy with them... Best wishes...
