"Exotic Coral" 3600g Personal Aquarium

The "stinky tofu" smells pretty foul though I don't remember that I ever try it. An acquired taste like beers and dry sambal ilkam bilis? By the way, I have eaten great Malay cooking in Toronto:)

Were you from the Sarawak side of the island?

At the mouth of Johore River, where it enters Johore Strait, there is an area near Check Java (delta to Singapore side) has a huge population of S.haddoni. In the sea grass meadows, and on the sandy beach head, hundreds of S.haddoni, but no clownish. Have you seen it?

Hey Shu Tin,

Actually I'm from Sabah. Wow ... you do have a good taste for sambal ikan bilis huh? Frankly there isn't a lot of good authentic Malaysian restaurants over here except for one or two "acceptable" reputable restaurants. We usually make our own Malaysian dish ourselves at home ... ;)

I have been to Johor Baru but never to the Check Java ... only because my father used to work there for a couple years and also I heard the durians are good in Johor too! Singapore has a lot of S. Haddoni too.

BTW ... if you're ever in Toronto, pls. let me know and maybe we can dine at some Hakka restaurant over here! They may surprise you with their spicy dish!

Regards,
Paul

Thank you Paul, may take you up on the invit:)

Just wanted to show every one this cool picture, but some of you may have seen it in my album:

Sure!

I think the tank space in the picture is ~ 42" left to right, and he morphs into "S" shape when he runs out of space. A picture of its twisted trunk:

Did you get them from your lfs or from an online vendor?

The FL species were purchased from Russ @ the live-plants.com several years ago. All the Pacific species were collected with permit, some by me from my trips, some species were sent to me (via cargo/custom)by a marine biologist.

Wow ... looks like "self strangulation" ... that is really weird!!

BTW your collected Grass and calcareous algaes are really cool! Tried that on my tank before and it'll never work when you have Tangs in it!! The Tangs'll nip and rip these "yummy algaes" to shreds.

Thanks Paul.

I had a baby tang, ~1.5" and he was find for about a year. Then one day, he pulled up a 3x5 area of fragile grass roots. I chased him for 3 days with no luck of catching him.:furious: Took down my reef finally and got him out!

He was cought by a carpet anemone, but he recovered from the sting(hard to believe) and I was able to get him into a new tank...

Hhmmm ... looks like your "well trained" anemone was trying to help out (catching) the Naso Tang on your behalf huh? :lolspin:

Yeah, looks that way. It seems funny now, there were 4 of us chasing this tiny fish for hours!

I can visualize your "secret strategy" with your anemones ... positioning 4 large anemones on all four corners and therefore Tang fish is entrap in the central spot of tank ... get net and scoop away :D!!

Paul

I've seen numerous planted freshwater tank before but this has to be a unique project as it's a saltwater specimen tank system and very cool!! Simply love it!!

There's lots of this available from back home in Borneo island!! And they're freely available as well ... locally that is!!
