Experience with blue spiny lobsters

I have read some websites that say they can get 20" long, others say 14", either way, that is a huge animal in a tank. Might be worth steaming up with a little butter....:)

^^ LOL, my neighbor was always hounding me to let him cook mine.
In fact he was the one that started taking the molted shells, I assumed it was part of his extremely ethnic cooking!
It was many months later he showed me the plaque he made out of the moltings that he carefully dried in perfect position, and clear coated them.
It was an awesome visual documenting growth and color change.
I thought he was giving me that plaque when he showed me, but left w/it, and I was like, HEY...??

Hahaha figures, mine would molt very quickly when it was small tripled in size in a matter of months. X 2 on the making a mess mine would spend hours pulling and tugging on the lr, was becoming a bull in a china shop at 6 inches...double that with antenna, it was always out in the open and showed no fear of anything, it would outright attack the aquarium tongs when ever I was using them.. These guys get very big at least here in Thailand 12 inch plus bodies..

Well, some websites have said they can get to 20". As far as making a mess, I only have 1 small coral on a rubble rock, and he knocked that down already, but its on the sandbed now, and I left it there. My tank is a 180 with some really heavy pieces, so as long as he doesnt dig underneath them to topple them over, I think it would be hard to knock everything down. Some rocks are 50+ lbs each. Had mine for over a week, and still pretty timid about coming out. He knows when feeding time is and sits in the front corner waiting for food, then once fed, he retreats to the back behind the rocks. Hoping he gets more bold and visible. No molt yet, but I dont want him to grow too fast....hahaha. Also no agression towards any fish or invets, I hope that doesnt change,. Thanks for the replies.

I gave it away after it hit 6 inches I was getting nervous it would either pull down a rock and cause the tank to break, or it would start eating fish,,, and I was getting tired of keeping a 350 gal w no clean up crew ..but it never killed any fish that I noticed

I thought my lobster was deceased as I had not seen him in months, maybe a year. About 2 weeks ago I found some molted shell.
I just noticed while feeding the tank, that my Naso's fins were a bit mangled. All of a sudden, I saw the lobster. He was near my Naso's favorite sleeping spot.
The lobster is about 4"-5", time for him to find a new home (aka a steaming pot or ground into fish food).
Now the fun part, trying to tear apart 300lbs of rock. Maybe a shrimp tied to string into a trap will work.
