My guess is it is a couple of factors. One being we typically run ac and keep our windows and doors shut. This would lower the o2 levels in the house. My ph runs significantly higher when my family is out of town and my dogs are at the kennel. I am willing to bet climates where people tend to leave windows open have a higher average ph. I would venture that areas closer to sea level would have more o2 in the air and may have higher average ph levels as well.
Using sodium carbonate instead of sodium bicarbonate can help some as well depending on you dosing needs and schedule.
