I have an exquisite wrasse that I am almost positive is a Figi female . Can I add another exquisite that seems to be an African male. I have a 180 tank with three Hawaiian Flames one that is a super male and all of the wrasses get along now. I am not sure about mixing the exquisites together.. thanks

ther might be a problem..what i would suggest doing if you try is to use a specimen cup and watch them closely to see how they interact....if it looks like there might be alot of aggression one way or the other then getting rid of one will not be that hard to do...i suggest using this method for adding most any fish..with the exception to a few fish for one reason or the other....but it will help on aggression..sometimes though some fish just won't mix well

They will not get along and you will have to give the Flame's to me :)

I'd say give it a shot...just watch them very closely for a while...

wrasses

wrasses

thanks for the reply thats a good idea. Is it possible for them to pair up or are they just a completely different genus ( hope this isn't too stupid of a question)??

i've tried exquisite wrasses on several occasions. I just don't learn from my mistakes but they are extremely aggressive. you probably would be fine if you had a large tank but lots of hiding places.

Whether they are from Africa or Fiji, they are still the same species(Cirrhilabrus exquisitus).

IME, exquisite wrasses are not one of the more aggressive species, and can mix with other wrasses without any trouble. That said, I would buy another female instead of a male.

i agree..if you are trying to pair them up u need to just by a female...they are the same species just different color varients from different regions..but they are the same species
