Ext wavebox with 4 pump achieved 5" wave in 500g tank

I just want to say thanks to Roger and O.C aquatic for the support. When i start working on my new tank. I want to do the external wave box but i was not sure if it is going to work even though i know exactly how the wave box work.

After many phone call with Roger and with his expertise i am finally achieve the goal on large wave in monster aquarium. My new tank is 96x48x24 (480g), i use 2 large external box which house 2 tunze wave pumps. All 4 pumps controlled by the tunze wave controller and the Y adapter.

I also want to say thanks to O.C Aquatic for giving a great deal on Tunze product and great support.

Lastly, i would like to say thanks to Atlantic Tropical for build the tank for me super solid and capable to handle such large wave without any noticeable issue

My stand is making out of 3x3 square tubing and 2x3 top and bottom. It will be strong enough. thank you so much for the advice.

What about your skimming though? That's why I actually came over to this forum; to ask about skimming with a wave box. I want to add one but it looks like it's really going to ruin my skimming. What do you think?
Besides being external (which I love!), What makes your setup better than just going with a off the shelf wave box?

My setup isn't any better with the off the shelf wavebox, except it is ext..

Just a estimate, but 4 waveboxes are around $2k. Not including the tank.

Steve, do you have a build log? Your design is very inspiring and has me rethinking my water movement plans.

You can create some wave with the two pump but not much and not real like the wavebox

He has the wavebox controller and the pumps. Just not the actual boxes in the tank. I would bet the "boxes" are in storage.

I paid $3k for the tank, 1" acrylic all around, ext over flow, ext wave boxes, 2 round corners.

So the waveboxes are just tunze stream pumps? I should have known. :lol:
What pumps are used for the waveboxes?
Could someone please explain what the actual wavebox does differently than a tunze stream on a wave timer/controller.

The tunze stream setup designed for longer interval direction flow. you can change the setting around for faster pulsing but your wave pattern will not be the same as the wave boxes its more like oscillating instead. I do have a build thread in Large tank forum but it has been over ran by friends....
