External pump?

If you want to run externally, I would go with a BlueLine BL-40 HD-X. very reliable, energy efficient and will move just the right amount of water

If noise isn't a issue the blueline pump would work but yea, depends on head pressure

I used a blueline 40 a few years ago & I didn't like it due to noise. Japanese Iwaki's are superior, american ones are similar in noise

reeflo pumps are quieter & more effecient, dart or snapper could work but it depends on the head pressure you have

red dragon pumps are quieter

I just bought one and so far no noise?!?! Hope it doesnt get progressively louder.........now you got me worrying....:eek2::confused:

noisy to 1 person isn't always noisy for someone else :)

you should be fine, built by iwaki engineers so they do not get noisy as they age

+1 on the reeflo. I would have to say the number one returns on most of the larger tanks are usually a reeflo.

Love my Dart. I use it on a 150 that has a 120 for a fuge - it feeds them both + reactors and is throttled back a bit. Also very quiet.
