Extreme Corals!!!!

Brook and I got back last night from a trip to Plano that ended wonderfully in a visit to Extreme Corals (or should I say Saltwater Paradise) and Paul Thompsons southern retreat. Extreme Corals is an amazing place with the most gorgeous corals I have seen in one place!! My recommendation to Extreme Corals is to beef up security hardcore to prevent any breakins ;). And if I had come after payday, I would have been walking out a much happier and hungrier person. As it was though, I got 7 gorgeous corals (with pictures coming sometime). I can't wait to do business with them again!!

And Pauls tank looks great, and I really enjoyed his 55 gallon in Ardmore. Thank you for your hospitality Paul! If you ever need anything, let me know!

Here Here!! And I completely agree. I walked into the back room of Extreme Corals and was stopped in awe. It was completely overwhelming. I noticed myself giggling for no reason. It was just amazing.

Kid in a candy store...

Oh, and thanks for everything, Paul. You've been very kind and giving. We appreciate it so much. Thanks again-

Does anyone know what their hours are on the weekends? I might be heading down to Dallas pretty soon... If they could pack it up the same way they do for overnight shipping I could just bring some stuff back.

Anyone from COMAS coming down to Dallas for an Extreme Corals vist HAS to get in contact with me first, or I will be offended. Ok, not really... But I can guarantee a behind the scenes tour of Extreme Corals that is not always given. Also, if I visit with you, they'll likely make the COMAS connection more and give you better deals.

Just don't tell them I said that, though.

Really, I love the store. I have so much fun wandering the isles and checking out the corals.

OK are these people comming up for the November meeting?

If so can we get a price list in advance and order things from them?

Thanks;

G

Gerald, yes you can.

heres the deal All items purchased will be bought to the meeting on Nov 11th. people need to be there to pick them up.

All items need to be purchased indepndently (i.e. as you choose them, by either paypal or credit card). This needs to be done via their website.

All items will be 20% discounted.

Mark the order "for local pickup" in the box relating to shipping.
In the instructions box at the page bottom write "To be bought to the November COMAS meeting."

Also, Sign up for their mailing list and get a voucher for $25 off of your first order.

Combine that with the 33% discount in their specials section and you wil be getting a coral for next to nothing.

YOU MUST ENSURE YOU MARK IT "LOCAL PICKUP" and "To be bought to the November COMAS meeting"

and now you guys know all that...I better go buy the corals I want.

**Edit: Oh, wow! I guess that something happened between Reef Central and Extreme Corals. :eek1: Either way, check out their website www. extreme corals .com (without the spaces)

just do a search on there feedback ....

i have been to the store in person and the only thing i found extreme was the amount of standing water on the floor,no one knew any prices for this or that ,and then when they did it was extreme!!!

well, all I can say, the 4 corals I have are all stunning and the ones they donated to the club to be fragged out were equally nice.

Paul.

I think charlie is referring to the visit when we were there a year ago. the corals were really expensive, several dead fish left in displays ect. I also visited their booth at macna this year, and I picked up a 1/4 inch tort frag for $35. They did a good job on packing it for me.

I did notice some water, but it wasn't terrible. I agree some of his prices were a little high, but I find the wow-factor to be in the enormous frag tanks. That just stunned me. Also his frags were the most beautiful I've ever seen in stores. If some of the frags we bought were to be sold up here, I'd imagine they would ask much more than what we bought them for. And I guess the owner could have been a little more kind (since we were customers), but he also was quite busy with other people.

But overall it's a store I hope to go back to

I have to agree. I thought that the owner became a little short with us, but maybe he was just having a bad day. I was VERY impressed with the setup and those corals are taken well care of before they go in your tanks. They are by far the best corals I have seen in a store and I bought 7 corals for less than 200 dollars. One of them was a blue tort that was probably 2" x 2" x 1" and 3 colonies. I think that is a very fair price. Just what I've noticed. I'll be going back there when my pockets begin filling up again....

as Lori said we were there after the nextwave seminar that the dallas club puts on

the only one that did know the prices was quite short with both of also and i know it wasnt due to help other customers... we were the only ones there besides other employes ....when i asked to see the back room they said sorry it was for internet sales only

Hehe - I have never walked into a store that didn't have dead fish in a number of tanks. It must be really hard to avoid as it seems to be the case pretty much everywhere. I have seen that in LITERALLY every fish store in the OKC area. Same with a bit of water on the floor just about. That varies more.

As for shortness and bad such from the owner, I apologize Brook and Chris for that. I agree that he got a little flustered, for which there is no excuse. And he was unsure on prices and threw things out there that were higher then they should have been. I don't think he managed that very well and am sorry for that.

As for not getting a behind the scenes tour, Charlie, you have to understand that. They can't just let anyone who walks in back there as it is a business. The area is not prepared for customer access. Any time they let a customer back there, they are opening themselves up to potential liability if someone gets hurt or something. That must be understood. I wasn't actually allowed back there until I had been wandering by the store for a number of weeks on a regular basis.

And the stuff they have available at Extreme Corals is very impressive. I agree with Brook & Chris in that I have never before seen that sort of variety and beauty in corals available. Their selection is truely impressive.

Let me throw in real fast a note that I DO very much love and appreciate the OKC fish stores and how much they support COMAS. We have a lot of good stores in the OKC area. Please understand that being down here, I just am getting to see the grass on the other side of the fence.

Re: Extreme Corals!!!!

Hey guys, this is Tim, I found this thread looking for pictures of Pauls tank for some t5 comparison (paul you know I am having a hard time debating lol). Chris and Brook, I have to say it was fun meeting both of you, and just from meeting a couple of you comas people, I really cant wait to get up there to see one of yalls meetings!

Funny that you say that...

The shop was broken into Monday night, a thief broke a window and stole about $100 out of the cash register, but at least we know it wasn’t a fish guy that broke in... he left the $1000 Euro reef sitting on the shelf LOL. :eek1:

You could have given us that recommendation a couple days ago chris!

Alrighty guys, hope yall are eating plenty of candy on this Halloween night,
have a good one,

-Tim Baron

Man, you'd think Chris WOULD have something to do with that.. he did bring it up and all.....

But considering he was with me Monday night, that would make me an accomplice.. Nevermind. So how 'bout them Yankees? ...:worried:

-But good to hear not much got stolen, and mostly that no one got hurt.
