Eye Candy for Gig and Mag Lovers

Awesome video.
Those were some beautiful nems, makes me even more mad that I lost my Mag

Was cool watch the clowns run off the damsels.

That gigantea at the end is getting blasted with current!:rolleyes:lol

I think the idea that gigs need a ton of flow is a left over relic of the days when many were lost to bacterial infections but the cause of death was unknown. They seem to tolerate flow very well but "need" is definitely up in the air at this point.

The Gigantea at Waikiki Aquarium hardly have any flow at all. I could not believe it when I see a tape of it. Definitely the idea that Gigantea must have high flow need to be change.
In the past trying everything to keep these guys alive lead us to try high flow. The only one survived in captivity long term that I know about were in high flow tanks, in Rod Buehler's system. I think that was why we, at least I, think that they needs tons of flow. I never drove in the Pacific, other than in Hawaii, so never seen any of the host anemones in the wild first hand.

i saw alot of pictures posted on WildSingapore website and they showed those carpets at the lagoons where there is very low current. definately not turbulant like we imagined.

Three things popped into my mind when viewing this video, ok, four:

1. Regardless of the various pumping technologies, it still is not possible to recreate that gentle back and forth surge that you see on natural reefs.
2. Spectacular colors on those Mags; makes mine look downright dull in comparison
3. mine hardly ever 'balls up' like the ones in the video.
4. Spectacular anthias in a couple of those shots - too bad they aren't a bit easier to keep.

Awesome video.. What's funny is, on ATT U-Verse there is a channel that shows promos, new on demand, etc and ti's all tropical fish... That purple gig, and the clowns in it, are on this channel on repeat all day long.

I know because my two year old loves it and just keeps saying fish when watching the channel..... Beautiful animals.
