Eye of the Ocean

No one know anything about this coral? :(
Scientific name would help if any one knows it
Google is no help without it
Looks like a kinda like a Rhyzo

Atlantis Aquarium has the Eye of the Ocean. Mike at captive reef has the Rhyzo.

The rhyzo are much nicer. Similar to a dendro but mych much larger.

Do a search in the archives, it was id'd in an olde thread a while back.

FYI-the eye will have a flat fin on the underside unlike any of the other corals (dendro, rhyzo etc). They live free from anchoring in the sandbed and roll around eating pods& worms =)

Hey,

I had one, but it wouldn't open for me so it wasted away from starvation. They like NO flow, so keep that in mind. Here's a picture....

Atlantis has them on sale for $180 which is a pretty good price IMO

I think there was too much flow in the tank. I would feed my dendros and micros/acans almost daily, but this little guy wouldn't open up. Sometimes at like 3am he would be partially open, so I would try to feed him, but not much luck. I think there was just too much flow in the tank, so he began receding from lack of food.

Oh well. They're cool corals, just like zero flow and lots of food. I think they may be nocturnal too, so you'll have to "train" them to open up during the day.

They are definitely nocturnal. When they feed/want to feed they will send out a little tenticle that looks like a finger to feel around. Mine liked flow just like dendros/rhyzos but they only fully open some of the time and never really fed on larger food. They prefered cyclo & articpods
