fainting leather

I have a huge leather that is trying to split and it has sort of fallen over like it has fainted. It has the slim coat thing going right now and I am hoping that is a good sign. When I bought it , it was one big head but it soon split from the foot all the way to the top except about a 1 1/2 inch spot that is still attached. Would the splitting be causing it to lay over like this ? All my paremeters are good and all my other corals are looking good so I just need some assurance that it will be fine. It has been this way for over a week now .

It should be fine. Leathers will develop a weird slimy coat that they will eventually shed. I have had multiple leathers do this and all were fine in a few days.

Shedding is one thing, but falling over sideways isn't really great.

Especialy for over a week.

You might want to get a turkey baster after it or point a power head at it to help it blow the slime coat off.

As long as the flesh is firm, even if the polyps aren't out it should recover. Leathers are REALLY resilient. But if you see sections of it looking mushy or rotted out, then you need t worry more.

Good luck!

Yep it has had the slime before ...I just waited till it looked liked like the slim was breakig apart and then blasted it off. it was the fainting I was concerned about . I see no change in color or any signs of rotting so I will give it more time. Thanks
