Fairy Wrasse Experts... ID?

Can anyone ID this fish? I bought them as "Red Fairy Wrasses".

They look like flasher wrasses to me.

Ask Dr. Tanaka he will know exactly kind of looks like juvenile Carpenters Flasher but what do I know I think all flashers look the same except for the fins.

i was going to say mccosker or carpenter juv.

They are flashers, and I cannot tell exactly what species they are, but perhaps Paracheilinus carpenteri, flavianalis or mccoskeri. Note that they have a rounded tail.

Indian Ocean; mccoskeri

Indonesia & Western Australia; flavianalis

Pacific; carpenteri

The species probably is one of the mccoskeri- complex so they might be attenuatus (Kenya & Seychelles), or rubricaudalis (Fih\ji & Vanuatu), but I am not sure.

Thank you for your reply. I am told that these fish were imported from Sri Lanka, so is the Mccoskeri the most likely candidate?

There is a single species, mccoskeri in Sri Lanka. Nice, pretty specimens !
