Deltec: you've got an impressive list of fairies.. can you possibly post a full shot tank pic? can't wait for you to get your bigger tank.. :)

Marvin

Marvins I have half of my wrasses in a 120 gallon and 55 gallon. Sorry I didn't have it on my signature. But maybe in a year or two I might move up to a 300 gallon.

Deltec how do you acclimate your wrasses? and for how long?

About two hours in a specimen cup, with lights off in the tank.

Deltecrules,
How big is the lineatus? I have heard stories about big rhomboids killing lineatus when they get settled in. I'll be very curious how they do together.

actually with me its the opposite, I had a single supermale lineatus and ordered a pair of rhomboids. The male rhomboid sustaind some extensive mouth injuries during shipping and didn't make it. The juvi rhomboid essentially adopted the lineatus as its buddy/protector. They would sleep under each other and generally stay pretty close together. I have since added a female lineatus and though they don't chum around like they used to there is no aggression even between the rhomboid and smaller female lineatus. In all honesty I would worry about the rhomboid getting beat up as i have never seen a rhomboid get anywhere near as big as i've seen some lineatus.

The lineatus is 5 inches and the rhomboid is 6 inches. I had a lineatus and rhomboid in the past without any problems. So far the lineatus and rhomboid kind of hang out together. At first the lineatus would display and flare up to the rhomboid but I haven't seen any of that since the morning.

Deltecrules,
Is your tank covered? If so, is it a glass cover or a different material? Thanks.

Yes I have an eggcrate, no jumpers ever since the eggcrate placed on top. I use to have a glass top, thats how I lost my last rhomboid :(

Just curious but how did you lose the rhomboid with a glass top? Sorry to hear btw.

The back part of the glass top did not have a covering, I tried to use a piece of heavy plastic to try and cover up most of the back, but somehow he found a way out :(

Ahh, understood. What have you been feeding the rhomboids?

I feed my fairies mysis soaked in selcom and vita chem, prime reef. they eat it all of it like candy :)

The rhomboid was feeding after two hours after acclimation. he must have chowed on 6-7 pieces of mysis!!

Not sure if anyone else uses gutterguard, but i found this stuff at my local hardware store. It has a grooved side that fits perfectly over a standard glass pane, and the other side can be easily cut to fit with a decent pair of scissors. I found it much easier to work with than eggcrate, and it sits perfectly flush. You can't see it from the front. Felt it was relevent to the thread if it can help someone keep their fairy's wet cheaply and easily, and still allow for gas exchange/heat transfer.
