Is the material transparent? If so, then it sounds like a winner. I just dont want to put anything over my tank that would cut my light output drastically.

DeltecRules: hey buddy.. post some pics when you can.. I look forward to seeing a full tank shot of your current tank.. :)

I just got a juvenile male flame wrasse, mostly orange at the moment. Does it eventually change color to more yellow and red by itself or does it need a female in order to change. Also, how long does this process usually occur?

Hi cant find the flasher thread ... I would like to know if a trio of carptenter 1male 2 juvenile would be alright in a 55g with 2 small false perc, gramma, shrimp and goby with shrimp.

thank you

pisces,

I just posted photos of Paracheilinus carpenteri and allied members in another thread "Let Them Flash !"

Thank you for your interest.

I don't think this is the place but I have been looking for different Fairy Wrasses for my tank but I have never seen a Pyles for sale and I have looked over most of the online shops and the LFS's in town rarely ever carry "rare" fish.
Thanks,
Steve

This is a male C. exquisitus (10cm) from Kenya. Upper shows coloration in excitement and the lower a displaying (~ same specimen turned bluish).

Many varieties are known among C. exquisitus and all those from Kenya have a similar appearance with a greenish body and a yellowish dorsal fin. Pacific forms are said to have a red dorsal fin but there are some exceptions.

I have been away and have missed reading about these wonderful wrasses. My memory may be failing but I seem to recall that Hiroyuki Tanaka also has expertise on Centropyge? If that is the case, is Centropyge multicolor reef safe AND compatible with Fairy and Flasher Wrasses?

My pair of C. Earlei arrive tommorrow morning. Can't wait.

Maximus, yes, Brian is my absolute favorite vendor of fairy wrasses. I have additional fish that will be coming as well but in later shipments.

Thanks all those people that are interested in the fairies. I feel very glad to hear from anybody who asks and/ or comments on the group. Your photos are also excellent and always make me enjoy as well.

Yes, any species of Centropyge can be a good choice for a fairy and flasher wrasse tank, a reef or fish only. Some larger angels like Pomacanthus and Holacanthus (eg. passer) are not recommended so much even when they are juveniles, because of their aggressiveness, but H. ciliaris (Queen) might be successful.
I actually wrote the part of Centropyge in my book, but I am not an expert on the genus...

Have you tried ReefHotSpot.com? Drop them a line as they recently recieved a large shipment of fish. Here is a link of wrasses http://reefhotspot.com/store/index.php?cPath=21_25

I have a line on a very nice labouti super male. However I have another labouti in my tank. I think its either a female or juvenile as it doesn't have the yellow loop on its side just dark purple. About 3" long. What are the distinguishing characteristics between labouti sexes? I don't want to get the super male if mine is already changing. I'll try and get a pic up but he/she never stands still.
