thank you! :)

do you like the cook scotts or the aussie scotts better? i dont think a cooks can compare to a 5" male from australia. but that IMO :)

yours looks very nice though.

where do punctatus come from other then australia and vanuatu? Fiji as well, right?

Mr. Tanaka
Your office tank is a beautiful display, but quite a lot of fish for that size tank. How are your water changes set up?Are the constant and automatic?

Do you guys think a 15 gallon is to small for a mccosker flasher and my vanuatu pylei fairy? I want to have a back up in case the to pylei don't get along in the main tank.

Here's the 15 gallon.

Thanks for your opinion,
Steven

should be heuerfan :)

tcmfish - online, or as for me i get them in HI usually as they come in direct. My LFS also has a nice variety of fairies.

zemuron114,
I will choose specimens before my eyes but on line I cannot select, and in general I like a fish with blue and green, with or without a red blotch for C. scottorum. The dorsal fin with much yellow would be better.

C. punctatus comes from Australia and anuatu but rarely from other areas. I have not seen Fiji ones.

Rothie,
Thanks. Yes, my tank is somewhat crowded but I will pick up some specimens and release these to other tanks on occasion. I will change water of some 1/5-1/6 once a month or so.

Photo; a male scottorum from Australia (11cm) and a female punctatus from Vanuatu (9cm).

wow.. Dr. Tanaka, you don't have any issues with all the wrasses and angels fighting and killing each other? and how often do you feed? and only 20%-25% water change every month? do you use a skimmer?

do you mind giving us a list of what you have in that tank? if my calculations are right, your tank is approximately 48"L x 18"W x 18"H... does this sound about right?

Thanks
Marvin

Quick question, Why does it seem like there are 2 colors of C. Pylei. I have seen yellow and then pink. Is this correct or are these fish being mislabled.

Yellow is male, pink is female. There are 3 types of pylei currently.

Click on link and scroll down to see pics of all three.

Pylie males are very yellow when captured and stressed. Like the one I posted, but now that he is calmed down and comfortable with his surroundings he is more red/pink.

The entire body is red/pink? Can you post a picture?

I'm still debating if i should attempt to keep both male pylei's together in my 72 gallon. My sulawesi pylei is pretty aggressive in that tank but i feel bad keeping my vanuatu in a 15 gallon........... dunno what to do....... :)

heuerfan -- They will NOT do well together, especially in a small tank like a 72 gallon. They may both survive, but I feel it is unlikely.

I have recently had a bad experiense with Bodianus bimaculatus and my fariyes.
I have had some fariyes for a long time with the B. bimaculatus with no problem. So i decided to ad some new ones. I aded 3 new ones to my tank (flavidorsalis, laboutei and aurantidorsalis).
All 3 were bigger than the bimaculatus.
I had them floating in plastic boxes for a day and then realesed them when the light went off.
Within 2 days the basterd had killed the flavidorsalis and the aurantidorsalis, luckily i manage to catch the laboutei before it was killed too.
It was extreamly mean, and freneticly trying to kill. Searching the whole tank constantly for the 3 new fishes.

Has anyone had any other had this experiense with B. bimaculatus causing trouble with fariyes.

(The hog is now in another tank, but he was realy hard to catch)

Snorvich & LargeAngels: thanks for the comments, you guys are right, i'm going to keep them separated. The new pylei seems to be very happy with my Mccosker in the 15 gallon tank. Maybe one day if i can upgrade to a 180 i will attempt it.

LargeAngels: Wow, thanks for the pic, i actually like that coloration better :) I'll let you know if mine does the same.

Norberg: Bodainus don't like Fairies. I had two flasher wrasses and added a Bodainus Masudai and after a month it killed both flashers :( Sorry you had to learn the hard way...

I am loking to get these guys:
Ruby Fairywrasse
Scotts Fairywrasse
Villa Fairywrasse
Mccoskers Fariywrasse
Hooded Fairywrasse
Vanuatu Flame Wrasse
Exquisite Wrasse
Mystery Wrasse

Which should be kept in pairs and which in harems. What price should you expect to pay for these guys. Thanks again.
