zemuron,

I have never heard of or seen any specimen from Australia; it is recorded from Cebu (Philippines, rarely imported), Sulawesi (sometimes imported) and Bali (photo record), both Indonesia, Papua New Guinea (described based upon specimens from PNG), and Vanuatu (sometimes imported) at present.

Rudie Kuiter & Helmut Debelius' Atlas (2006) narrates that it comes also from Coral Sea but it seems to me PNG and Vanuatu.

A friend of mine in Australia will import and export fishes from Vanuatu on occasion; it is natural that they will show pylei in their lists for sale.

YoungLe,

Yes, I agree at these sizes. Thank you.

Help guys, my male sulawesi pylei don't like the new female :(

Perhaps the female is to big, almost the same size as the male.

Right now the female is up in the corner of the tank by the overflow box :(

What should i do, remove her or leave be?

Thanks for the advice,
Steven

Hopefully you used the bronco socialization technique? However, in a relatively small tank it may be difficult to add a female after the fact. One of the reasons I keep two tanks is to have a fall back option. My suggestion would be removal or the female may not make it.

Unfortunately i did not :(

I'm going to try and take her out of the tank if i can, she is no longer up in the corner of the tank. She is hiding some where in the rocks, maybe there is a chance she will make it? Will keep my fingers crossed....

i added a female flame about the same size as my already existing female flame and she killed it. I added 2 more very small flames and the old female didnt pay attention to them. I think size is a huge factor when adding new fairies..

good luck Heuerfan.. try reintroducing her after she starts eating again and looks good.

zemuron,

Could you send live fishes to Japan ? I hope Hawaiian Flames (and also Earle's) will be shipped to Japan so often !

Brian said that the aor parcel cannot be accepted from US to Japan due to flight itself. I was to meet him in Fukuoka and he would have brought Earle's and others some time ago but he has postponed just prior to his departure. I do not worry about it and I believe that we can meet someday but I hope to get at least Earle's as soon as possible. NO import to Japan yet.

I was lucky enough to get a pair of Earle's and some other nice fairies before Brian stopped shipping. Mine are 50% larger than when I acquired them.

I would still hope to get P. bellae at some future timebut I know that Brian has other priorities at the moment.

Given that you have a grouping anda relatively large tank, you will most likely see the dominant female change to a male, probably in a three month (or so) time frame. Nice fish, by the way.

If you have two females that "think" they are the dominant one, you will have a few squabbles for a while until they sort it out. But that is not a big deal. I have two C. jordani that are trying to sort it out at the moment. A bit of chasing but not a big deal.

tanaka - i will look into shipping to Japan. I get flame wrasse pretty regularly (as long as weather permits) but havn't seen any earlei's in person as of yet :(

What city in Japan would you like it to be shipped to??

i have my export license, but im not verified with any airline except delta. Does american fly to Japan?

Thanks zemuron,
I have good friends in Fukuoka who will receive and forward them to me (Miyazaki where there is no international airport). Or some friends in Tokyo may help. I do not know if Delta Airline will fly to Fukuoka.

I visited Oahu three times until now and hope to visit again to see many friends and also watch fishes there.

Nice shot wrasseguy2!

I'm happy to report that the female pylei is doing very well and eating. The male decided to finally back off and has allowed her to roam around freely. There is the occasional flare and chase but nothing serious. And ofcourse, here is a pic of the happy couple :)

Was lucky to find another Sulawesi Pylei at my local fish store, this one is going to a friend. The Sulawesi is the one on the right :) I love Pylei's!
