Finally got a Pylei wrasse

Finally got a Pylei wrasse

Actually a pair. I can't believe how amazing the male is. He is a striking yellow with blue markings all over his body and face. The female is a deep pink. When he flashes the female, the colors become really bright it is really nice to watch his displaying and the two of them hanging out together. The Balteatus is the only one out of the bunch that paid them any attention. The "Bronco method" worked like a dream again. I took a few soso pics of them in the container. I will try and take some better pics of them in the tank when i get a chance. By the way for those of you looking exotic wrasses, i got them from Nick at Fantasycorals.com.
What a pleasure to do business with.

Beautiful fish to say the least. If you don't mind me asking, is a pylei pair closer to the price range of a lineatus or close to that of a scott's? I think I found the next two fish for my tank.

Thanks,
Cory

A pair will run you anywhere from $250+ depending on who you get it from.

The males go for about $150-200 and the females are a little cheaper at $100-125.

If you get a Scott's, there are a few things to keep in mind:

1. They are known to be one of the most agressive fairy wrasse out there, so be careful if you are trying to house multiple fairy wrasse. It can be done, but the Scott's should be towards the end.

2. If possibly get a Cook Island specimen or an Australian specimen. These 2 locations have the best color, better than Fiji or other locations. Granted they cost more, but are worth it IMO.

3. Keep in mind Scott's will tend to loose their color without one or more females. Female Scott's are harder to find, but if you decide to go this route, I suggest you get atleast one female.

HTH,

Nick

my new fairy got some kind of nasty sore on its mouth...i have it in qt and i am treating lets just hope it makes it...........got my fingers crossed

I have a male and female lineatus in QT. As luck would have it my LFS got in SM yesterday. Will the SM kill the male or will they co-exist? If the consensus is a death then I would sell the male.

Philwd, what is SM at your LFS? If you tell me what that is, I could give you the odds of them coexisting.

I believe he means Super Male, depends on the size i believe. If they are different size then it is possible.
