This is my Orange-Back (Cirrhilabrus aurantidorsalis)

My Copperband is fascinated by him for some reason. I had to crop him out of the other picture.

microbubbles- those colors are amazing! What type are they? (Off topic, but are those dendros in the front right corner of the first picture? They're gorgeous.)

These are beautiful fish. This thread has convinced me that my next fish addition MUST be a fairy wrasse.

michellejy- it's the fish in the first picture is the same as the bottom fish in the second pic... a lineatus supermale. the second pic is misleading because the top fish (a maldivian male lyretail anthias) is actually dwarfed in size by the 5" lineatus.
it's a beautiful fish... as his moods change he flashes different colors; mostly dark to bright, vice versa.
also, those are dendros in the front. i got lucky and found a large colony

That lineatus is amazing. I have seen pictures of them, but never with the bold colors yours has. I'm going to send you a pm so I don't derail this further

I'd appreciate a bit of help with an ID. Bought at the LFS from a shippment from Hawaii or Fiji (they couldn't remember which he came in) and only marked as a Fairy Wrasse. In browsing the much older posts, I found one similar to my new guy. The consensus back then leaned towards a juvenile Lubbock's.

Does a Juvi Lubbocks look right to you? Apologies for the bad pics, he doesn't sit still for too long.

it is a juv c. rubripinnis or red finned fairy wrasse..i have owned a couple one of the better looking fairys imo

Can anyone ID the wrasse below? I purchased it today without an ID. I posted a thread in Reef Discussion and someone said they thought it might be a cirrhilabrus rubrimarginatus female. Do you agree? What kind of behavior can I expect from this species. I also have an Exquisite Wrasse in the same tank. The Exquisite did chase the new wrasse briefly when he was first introduced. Should I expect more aggression from the Exquisite? The new wrasse seems very passive.

The head makes me think it might be a femle linneatus, but very not sure.


Microbubbles--how do you get your dendro to stay open during the day? Had you just put some food in the tank?
