Fairy Wrasse question

I have been reading about fairy wrasses such as lubbocks, mccorskers, and carpenters, and most sights state that the min tank size is around 50 gallons. I am just curious why that is, and if any one has had any experiences keeping these wrasses in a smaller tank. Lets say a 20 gallon reef?

Thanks,
Brandon

Lots of fairy wrasses get big. Also some you listed are FLASHER wrasses and not fairies... (mccosker's, carpenters)

Fairies can get up to 5+" in size and can get very aggressive in smaller spaces. If you are looking for something that would be ok in a 20 gallon look at one of the flasher's like the McCoskers.
