Fallow tank and medications

Hello everyone I'm Alex and it's my first time posting here, I have lost almost all my fish from marine velvet or brook, I'm not sure I think it's marine velvet, maybe some more experienced people can tell from my yellow tang pic.

I want to ask you, are three months enough for my tank to stay fallow in order for the parasites to die ?

My fish are now in a 12 gallon quarantine where I treat them with odimor, a copper based treatment that lasts one week. Do you think it will work ? From what I read here you guys use treatments for 2-3 weeks.

Get some Chloroquine phosphate for the velvet, its much more effective then copper. Fallow period for velvet is 6 weeks but I would let it go for 7 or 8 weeks since your sure that its velvet. I just went thru the same thing in my QT system but the fish never looked like your yellow tang. Also not sure if Formalin is easily available to you but that would be good to dip new fish in before going into the QT

What he said. Chloroquine phosphate treatment is 14 days for velvet.

New life spectrum make ich shield powder form. Not sure if a LFS has it or can get it for you?

I don't think I will be able to find it here but I will go to New York in a month so I will get some from there, until then I will continue using copper sulfate as I don't have anything else available here, should I use 0,3 for 3 weeks ?

I have used cupramine in the past so its not the same as copper sulfate I don't believe?? I would use the copper for 30 days minimum. Call the number on the copper bottle and ask them what they suggest as far as concentration, they should have someone that will help you

Being that you were from Germany I should know that you already thought of that

Thanks ThRoewer but it will cost half the money if i just buy it from amazon in New York and since it wont arrive in time for me to do a 14 day treatment before i leave for NY if i buy it from amazon uk/de there is no point in spending more money.

Or i just have to dose the Ick Shield and i can just leave the house for a week ?

I focus on copper for the time being.

Dmorty217 unfortunately the yellow tang died i now try to save my blue and my kole tang, copper seems to clear their spots and they keep eating with a great appetite, i hope that the copper will kill the parasite without hurting the fish.

The CP treatment is prophylactic.

I don't know specifically about the CP but I know I used Cupramine and TTM when I was treating for Velvet and was successful. Maybe I got lucky but I didn't have anything other than Cupramine on hand and waiting for Amazon Prime to get me anything else was not something I was ready to gamble with because of how fast Velvet kills.

It CAN be prophylactic, but in this case it would be the treatment.

You could if TTM is extended for at least 14 days.
