as the title says a fan dropped in the sump and shocked everything in the the sump. I reset all the outlets and plugged the pump back in..... the huge danner submersible pump no longer works. Is the pump fried? Order new one? What to do for the time being? :sad1:

Disassemble the mag drive, clean it out and with the intake cover off plug it in and see if you can get it spinning

6000gph pump gone. New one ordered and on the way in 2 days. Running 3 separate pumps until then. What a nightmare. Maybe I can get warranty on the pump and get a backup

Ghetto returns in place... I think I need a drink

That is the worst man, I'm sorry. Definitely made me go check and double check my fan. Still probly gonna wake up with nightmares tonight. Hang in there.

Any livestock losses?

This is another reason to dose vodka. The bottle is always near the tank.

At the end of the night nothing was lost but the pump. Fish and corals alive and well. I'm not electrocuted. I think its time to hook up the chiller then take the fans out back and office space them.

Wait, can`t you just find a way to mount the fans more permanently? I`d do that before running that energy sucking chiller. Just make it so that they can`t move unless you choose to move them.

Warranties are designed to cover manufactures defects on workmanship only. Not incidental or consequential damages. Of which are not limited to many other things. When you send it in they would probably inspect and make a decision based on their findings.

As far as mounting fans the fans were a temporary fix to the issue of heat. On the warm days the tanks were struggling to stay under 83. There is no central air and all the options to cool the tanks require great amount of power.

As for the warranty. I did read that this mishap is not under warranty. I figured there was no harm in trying.

Cheap box fans? I would just make a 2x4 frame around it and sink a few screws through the wood and into the metal frame, being careful to not interfere with the fan blade. Then I would just mount the frame wherever it was convenient.

You run MH I`m thinking? I now run LEDs. Peek summer time, 2 clip on fans and an $11 box fan on low...priceless.

Running t5s. Unfortunately fans don't seem to be an effective cooling solution for this system. I think the best option is a dual temperature controller, precision fans and a chiller
