Fan Sources

My clip on fan died and I need a new one bad. Amazingly enough, that little six inch fan makes a huge difference. I tried Lowes, WalMart, and Office Depot. No fans in the middle of winter. Go figure. Anybody know where I can get one or two. I know some of you have rigged computer fans. Is it easy to do that?

CPU fans are very easy, and IME last longer than the typical fans. You can get them at Radioshack or any CPU store. All you need is a DC converter to run one. Ive always wired them to old cell phone chargers without incedent. I saw there was a post a while back on here to tell you what ohms to look for, but Ive just plugged random ones in. You can buy the converter at RS as well, if you dont have any old chargers.

are you can get a 120v cpu fan. i've got one at the house if you want it. it is a 4" fan. just let me know

Hmmm, I think I would rather have two cpu fans than a big clip on. Where do you guys mount yours. Do you point them both in, or do you have one in and one out to create a current. What about in the sump?

I ran two 5 inchers both facing out on my 75. They were as effective as the two 8" WalMart fans I hed before that (and tons quieter). I ran them both off of the same cell charger.

I didnt run anything in the sump, but I would do the same thing and face it/them out. With animals in the house I dont like the idea of a fan sucking whatever dust/hair is in the air and blowing it into my canopy or stand.

Its real simple, so no problem Ive actually got a few extra chargers I could hook you up with as well. All youll need is the fan(s), some wire nuts, and cutters/strippers.

Dave- I have those 4 inch Radio Shack Fans. They are great. A little noisy but for the price, good fans.

I have them in the top of my hood. One blowing in and one blowing out.

Rick. Its funny. I always wondered why your tank stayed cool with a much smaller chiller and Mine was running almost nonstop in the Summer. I took that fan off and my tank was getting so hot it was setting off alarms.

Mine is 1/4. Does a chiller take freon like a regular air conditioner? If so, find out what kind and my step father can fill it for you.
