Fans in sump

KEEPING IT REAL
 Wanted input on fans in sump to help control temp and how many fans is to many to decide on buying a chiller

I would just put a good fan blowing across the sump and maybe a clip-on fan on the display if you need it. It would also be a big benefit to control the temp in the room.

[welcome]

I wouldn't put a fan IN the sump. ;)

I have fans over each of my sumps ( 3 tanks ), and it works like a charm.

Fans cause evaporation which lowers the temperature of a body of water. It also means you have to replace that water or your salinity will creep upwards. Fans over the sump and/or tank are usually a good thing. You probably want them on some sort of timer or if you have temperature control via a controller, you could time them based on tank temperature.

Here's what I did during an AC failure... If I needed to install something more permanent, I would purchase 2 smaller fans and hang them directly above the return section blowing down onto the water's surface.
