Father's Day Mantis

Hello everyone! My daughter and I have decided to get my husband a mantis shrimp for Father's Day. Actually, just the setup basically- not the shrimp- gonna let him pick that out! Anyways, I bought an Eclipse 12 tank and a heater for it. Is this acceptable? Or should I return it and look for something else? What else should I get to go with it (other than a GC to the local LFS for sand and live rock)? We can't set it up in advance because of where it will be located. Any other advice/suggestions would be appreciated- I want to get the right stuff and surprise him!

In order to speed up the cycle, I'd also get some Natural Sea Water. You can get it from places like Petco, I think the company name is Catalina. The eclipse 12 should be just fine for smaller species.

i wish i had a daughter and wife that would do that for me and yeah that sounds great do you already have saltwater tanks set up? and also check out www.tbsaltwater.com and on ebay type mantis shrimp and there is a guy that will have some for sale by the end of the week.
