Try to find smaller meaty foods like rotifiers or pods that will be easy to digest. Mysis and other freshwater feeds are a detriment to the corals IMO because the corals waste more energy trying to digest them than they can extract from the food.

Do most people feed them every other day I assume? Do you all turn your return off when you spot feed?

I now feed my corals about twice a week. But then I've been having a Cyano outbreak ( Growwwwlll!) & I'm being more cautious of excess nutrients.

We quit spot feeding, the only thing we turn off is the skimmer for about an hour. Ideally you'd feed in the morning before the lights come on when everything is open & feeders are out.

Feeding once per day is optimal as long as you use the right kinds/quality of food so you don't get the nutrient issues. A lot of the frozen food has binders that will build up in your water, you can thaw frozen food in a fish net under tap water prior to feeding but chances are that any food large enough to do this will be hard to digest (we quit using frozen foods & cyclopleeze because of cyno issues).

Check out a quality refrigerated food, it is worth the investment (we love arti-pods & roti-feast)

JenDub: So you had Cyano issues feeding frozen? Hmm, a definite clue, since I'm doing at least two water changes a month & still messing with the dreaded Purple Slime nuisance. I've been feeding frozen coral foods for awhile..
But I don't have ready access to just refrigerated coral foods..

Sheol thankyou very much! It's not so much the camera as the lens Canon rebel XT camera and a 100mm f/2.8 macro , also all the great advice I got on RC . But most of all taking LOTS of pic's
(if you take 500 one is bound to come out good)

Yep, ditched all of the frozen stuff and it cleared up quickly with a few 60% water changes. You can order the refrigerated stuff online I think if you're lfs doesn't carry it. You could also ask the lfs store owner to start carrying the foods you like =)

JenDub: Yeah, I may ask them to order some fridge food for me. I know they feed their own mix of stuff, though I doubt its any better. I'd love to stop having to clean up the mats of Cyano! I just did that about 50 minutes ago. Nasty chore.
Sassafrass: LOL. Yeah, with practice I might hit the gold a couple of times.
SniperSPS: That last is the same species as Melev's red & my purple one, I don't remember the name ( F. hexagona maybe..) but that shade of blue is just too cool. SWEEETTT CORAL DUDE!!
