Favorite Anthias?

I don't think these can be beat to be honest... the price tag reflects though!

Their difficulty, shyness, and overall somewhat special needs (there is a reason the Aquarium of the Pacific houses them in their azoo tank, not with all the other anthias) makes them rather undesirable, IMO :)

Anthias have become my new favored fish and are more hardy than people think. IMO I don't think you can go wrong with any of them as long as you balance the heirem of males to females.

I a large system, can different species be together? I know the male dominates a small group of females. Will they form their own schools if given enough space?

My favorite is the tiger queen (pseudanthias lori) but they are fairly difficult to maintain. My second favorite is pseudanthias dispar.

My 375 will most likely have a school of about 15 lori's if I can find healthy stock once it is up and running.

I have 1 male lyretail and 8 females for a couple years, very sweet but greedy eaters of only mysis.

I also have a beautiful male squarespot and 5 females that are awesome. I also have a small school of dispar anthias that are nice. Anthias just need adequate space and food as they are greedy eaters.

Do you have them all in the same tank?

The lyretails are in the 5x5x30 cube and all the rest are in the 96x30x30.

They will get along although I don't think they will form their own individual schools. If you watch the video that StripesTheEel posted of his tank, http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showpost.php?p=16698335&postcount=81 you can get an idea of what 20+ Anthia of several species look like in a big tank - I think he has lyretail/dispar/flame in there.

Lyretail get my vote. Stunning males, attractive females, good price/availability, among the hardiest and all around good fish.

It's hard to find an ugly anthias.

I like Pseudanthias kashiwae and Pseudanthias parvirostris for something different. Nemanthias carberryi is also really nice and less common.

I have 1 squarespot and it's the most aggressive fish in my tank so you'd have to watch for that. More than my regal angel, sargassum trigger and purple tang.

For mild & colorful I live Ignitus and Carberryi.

For bold & beautiful I like Hawaiian Bi-color and Lyretails from Maldives (not Fiji or Tonga).

I have 3 Lyretails, 1M-2F, 3 small dispar, 3 small squarespots and a 3.5 inch male bartlett in a 180 with a onespot fox, a 2 inch potters angel, a candy stripe hog, 4 2.5 in. chromis and a cleasner wrasse.

The male lyretail (4.5 inches) is by far the most agressive fish in the tank.
He especially like to strafe the potters. The potters stands up though it is much smaller.

tuka are my fav, i have a school of 5, they are not the easiest fish in the world tho.....

I'd never heard of these. Very pretty. Every site I looked at specifies that this species is not covered on the arrive alive policy. They must be a more advance fish like you say.

Your new tank will be big enough to house numerous anthias if you have a big enough skimmer and keep your water quality up. Main thing is keeping them well fed. I have 29 in my 475. I run an H&S skimmer that is rated for a thousand gallons and do 50 gallon weekly water changes. I currently have 9 female lyretails, 2 males, 3 borbonius, 2 bartletts female, 1 male, 2 sunset female, 1 male, 2 dispar, 1 male bimac, 1 pink square male and 1 female, 1 red stripe and 2 resplendent. Ventralis are nice but are tough to care for in my experience.
