Fays Reef Tank

Introduction
When I first started reef keeping with a small Nano tank in 2003, I did not realize how addictive this hobby would become. As my interest in reef keeping increased I progressed through three upgrades to my present mixed reef tank in 2009. I have developed this Album to share my interest and experiences with others. Also to thank my many helpers and other reef keepers whose assistance and knowledge was invaluable in building my present reef tank to date. I would like to thank my husband Robert (Frog) for helping with this tank upgrade and for his support over the years.

That looks very fine, Fay. I see you have the comfy chair appropriately located for best viewing.

What are collecting conditions like in NZ? Are you allowed to collect fish/inverts locally, or must everything be imported?

Dave we don't have the pleasure of coral reefs in New Zealand everything is imported and QT for 3 weeks before it is allowed on the market via the shops here.
I live out in the country which makes it even harder, just of late we are getting a bit better selection coming through but unfortunately my tank is at its limit for stock now, but on the other hand I can sit back and watch it grow now the hard work is over.

Okay, thx. I had read that there was some planktonic drift towards NZ from the west but was never clear on what sorts of species or what kind of reefs, if any, this may have resulted in.
