fdnw 400 pumps question

bullitr

broke but happy
is there a alternative pumps for this skimmer because each pumps pulls 2.1 amps each. maybe bubble blaster or any less amps pumps ?or at least pin wheel impeller for the octo 3000 it should draw less watts the the needlewheel.
thank you

That seems really high for those pumps to be pulling that much power. The OTP 3000 should be pulling around 65 - 70w total power per pump, which equares to around 2.4 amps or so total. What are you using to measure the power draw with?

Thanks,
Jeremy

neptune apex and kill a watt both reading 2.2 amps per pump but only 55 watts for the regular impeller and 85 watts for the needlewheel impeller.also there is a guy with ndw 200 with the same issues!

Apex reads 7.1with 3 pumps running and reeflo dart (1.3 amps)
on both kill a watts 6.4 amps for 3 pumps reading 225 watts for 3 pumps/ 325-335 watts with reeflo dart / 7.0 amps

Those readings are not accurate. If the model of the killawatt meter you have does not take power factor into account it can not accurately calculate the amperage draw. If you're around 65w-85w that is most likely in the .8 - 1.2amp range per pump.

how about the apex? the reeflo darts pump reads 128 watts @ 1.2 amps and 2 tunze 6205 reads .9 amps @ 80-110 watts. also all the metal halides have a dead on reading with both apex and kill a watt.
Anyway is there an alternative pumps or should i get a new octo 3000 pinwheel pumps hoping it has a better amperage draw. thanks
