Feasible to ever reintroduce coral after copper?

i have some bad ich in my tank and I'm going to be moving my coral to my qt so I can get rid of this ich once and for all. If i treat the tank w copper(wanting to do copper not hypo), am I to think that all the coral will die after treating w copper and returning carbon into the filter sys and waiting until the copper doesn't show up on a test? Or are they that sensitive to trace amts. I was planning on keeping some LR in the dt as I dont have room for it all in the qt. Will copper just adere to that LR and screw up the coral once I return it? Thanks

Problem is copper will stay in live rock, and sand, but so will ich. Meaning if you move them to qt they will still have it and reinfect display.Best bet is to treat Ich using naturall methods. Not copper that's just playing with fire

Nah can't do that. Been trying that. I'm under the impression that letting the tank go fallow for 2 months will rid any living ich. So maybe I'm better off putting the fish in the qt,adding copper to rid them, any then any remaining ich will die out in the dt after 2 months of no fish. It's just impossible to catch the fish w this reef, but if I was considering taking all the coral and rock out anyway, I might as well just remove the fish and keep the coral in the dt.

I wouldn't bother with copper, just fix your water parameters, figure out what is stressing your fish feed them good and ich won't be an issue.

What is wrong with qt'ing the fish and treating them on copper and leaving the corals in the display. Since the ich in the display won't have a host anymore they will all be death after leaving the tank fish free for 28 days.

Much better off off putting all the fish in a QT tank for a while to treat them and let the ich die off in the display tank.

I thought ich is always in the tank it just depends on how healthy the fish is wether they get it or not. please correct me if I'm wrong.

I treated my tank for years with copper and now it is a reef BUT, I waited a few years after stopping the copper before adding corals. Copper will all be eliminated eventually but it could take a few years. Corals are affected by tiny amounts of copper.
Even if you put a net in a tank that has copper in it, then put it in a reef tank, you will immediately see anemones retract and corals will also show their discomfort.
I did it by accident a few times. Not good.
