Feather Duster? Aiptasia?

I'm guessing feather duster because of the color banding on the tentacles, as well as there being a "stock" that is about an inch long, but I want to be sure. Otherwise I simply nuke the whole rock. Thought I'd consult the pros first though.

I have the same thing right now that came in a on a frag rock from the LFS. Haven't dealt with it yet. What about a peppermint shrimp? Seems like a nice addition to the tank.

Out it goes.

i hope you didn't try to just pull it out. if any of the stalk is left, it'll just grow back.

as long as you don't have any hawkfish and some (all?) wrasses don't object to shrimp snacks. i have hawkfish and several different wrasses. when i throw a few freshwater ghost shrimp in my tank for a treat, the wrasses get them before the hawkfish even see them.

Yep, sure is Aiptasia.

just because you have that shirt makes you an expert? pffft!

No worries about a piece being leftover. Broke off the little branch of rock with the toadstool on it (the reason I got the rock) and threw the rock into a snow bank. I don't think the aiptasia will survive a couple of months in the yard.

About the t-shirt, If you've had enough to warrant a shirt, then maybe it does come with an expert qualification!!!

johnike has 2 dubious distinctions...most aiptasia and most floods. but, in his defense, he makes a mean garlic shrimp dish!!! :bounce2:

I have a 75 g tank in the basement. It's never been set up but I tossed some live rock in it from my move. This was two years ago. Water has about half evaporated. There are several aiptasia living in this tank. You may find the stuff knocking on your door sooner or later (-=

If I ever hear a knock and the words "Candy gram!" announced, I'm running!!
