Starvation or other stress.

This is a article on christmas tree worms, your feather duster is in a similar situation, as most people will ultimately starve the animal to death because they are not capable of providing proper care.

I did, but honestly a lot of places don't say they're hard to take care of anything. Earlier post say it will probally grow a new crown. If that is the case then it is not dead. The LFS store guy said I should feed him something like Marine snow, but I never got around to getting it. Hey stuff happens, at least I'm not putting an anemone under standard lighting or a tang in a 30g.

Can somebody tell me if there is a feather duster that is easy to keep fed, and easy to keep alive? I have some little ones growing on a piece of LR that I bought, but I would like to buy at least one big one. Can you tell me which ones to stay away from? I am keeping shrooms, and I know that they need to be fed. Usually I try to feed my fish above the shrooms, so that the debris falls onto the shrooms, and they close up around it, and eat it. Can featherdusters be kept in this manner too? Are they as easy to keep as shrooms? I want some featherdusters! But I do not want to bring them home just to starve. Will they do well under regular Marine Glo Actinic blue light? Please let me know! Thank you in advance.

they are filter feeders, lighting is pretty inconsequential to them.

Hey venwu225, That article is gone. Are mushrooms also considered filter feeders? I know some about mushrooms. I know how to feed them. Can Featherdusters be fed in the same way? I usually feed my fish above the Mushrooms. The fish shred the food into particles that drift onto the shrooms where the shrooms close around the particles, and consume them.
Can you recommend one type of Feather Duster that I can buy that can be fed fairly easily?
Actually if you could recommend several that would be even better because I want to get one soon, and find a particular kind at the size I want might be hard. I do not want to order online if I can find one in a store.

My feather duster lost its crown....then left the tube. I purchase another one about a month later. I placed it in the tank and 2 days later the other one appeared with a new tube and crown. It was amazing. I had purchased another one....it shed its tube....didn't really have one to begin with. I watched it back into the sand. I haven't seen it since but I know it will come back.
