feather duster question

I am thinking of adding a couple hawaiin feather dusters to my tank. My tank is a very high flow tank for sps corals so I dont know if the dusters would be able to handle the flow?
thanks
jeff

As long as you can find a sheltered nook, a little flow is good but they don't like to be blasted. My 29 gal SPS tank has about 700 gph flow and both my purchased giant duster and my many volunteers have been flourishing for about 9 months now. I just have the giant by a rock where he gets enough flow to sway in the currents but isn't right in a blast zone. Of course this is just my personal opinion fwiw, hope it helps!

thanks for the reply. I placed a fish order for this friday and added a duster to it to try. I guess I will find out this weekend if I can find a spot for one.

Got any shrimp? Watch out for them. I had four Peppermint Shrimp and a Cleaner Shrimp pester a Duster. They were trying to get the mucous off of it, which eventually will kill the Duster.

I actually have 4 peppermint, and 2 cleaners. I may be in trouble with the new duster when I get it.

I got the feather duster today and put it in my main tank. found a perfect spot for it that was away from where the shrimp hang out. Well after about 2 hours the duster is gone and one of my crabs has ahold of it. It took quite a bit of effort to get the crab to release the duster but after shaking it quite a bit and droping it it finally released it. The duster now has a new home in my sump. It should be fine in there, just wont to get to view it like I would have if it was in the main tank.
thanks

I actually dont know whay kindof crab it is. but it sure had a taste for worms. He hung on to the duster as if its life depended on it.

At least it survived, if you ever get rid of the crab you could always try again when it's healthier.
