Feather Duster + Zoo = ?

Hey guys I poke around the newbie forum mostly but was elated to see an entire forum dedicated to zoos! I'm newish to the hobby now..My first (and only .. for now!) coral is a Zoo and I've had it for about 5 days or so .. Most all of it is comfy enough to open up in the day time ... and I suspect the few little ones that don't will soon.

However I do have a feather duster that seems to be intertwined in this guy and I was wondering if he'll cause any harm, and if so whats the best method of action to safely separate the 2?

I was also reading about your zoo growing ideas and I might just sneak in a tiny piece of rock I have next to my zoo and see what happens in upcoming months.. here's a pic of what I have

Great frag to start with!! Thats a beaut! Don't worry about the featherduster, they are harmless filter feeders.

It looks like that frag has grown over all available real estate, i'd definately put a couple shells or pieces of rock rubble right up next to it. In a few weeks it will spread to those and you'll have a few frags to trade for new zoos!!

there shouldent be a problem with the featherduster being conected to the zoos. you could cut it out if you really wanted to.

I'm very glad to hear :) It's just an itty bitty tiny duster but you never know! Thanks for the quick answers. And since it is a rainy day I just sat and did sneak a small chunk of rock next to the zoo.. think i scared it though it just went "svoosh" into its stalks.. but by the time im typing this he's already (I know its a colony but i can't help but think of the coral as just one cool little guy in there) nearly in full bloom again

Featheroo?

(giggle)

in all seriousness: i've had featherdusters pop out of my zoa colonies before and they havn't hurt themin QT. then my cbbf thanked me for the snack! :D

WOW those are really nice and what a way to start with zoas .. with RED ones that excellent ... i started with ugly borring browns...
