What is the lifespan of a feather duster, I have had one that has been great since It was the first thing that I put in my tank in October, I have been carefull to "feed" it additioanlly.

About a week ago I noticed that it did not open completly and seemed tobe open less every day and now it has apparntly died.

Just wondered what there "normal" lifespan is as I know we have no way of knowing how old they are when we acquire them>

Thanks,

I think their normal lifespan is years with proper care. And since you were feeding it it should have lived for quite a while.

Are you sure there wasn't something wrong with your water quality? Anything picking on it?

There could have been a chance you bought it as an old one and that was just its time. I don't know, but it should have definitely lived longer than that with additional feedings.

Someone else should pop in with an answer.

I feed it a mixture of different things including phytoplankton, reef chili and I spot feed it whatever frozen foods etc. that I feed my fish.

It has also opened up only about a third the size that it was a couple of time in the last couple of days. which really supprised me as I had not seen it open at all in over two weeks.
