does anyone have any good ideas on how to keep powerheads where they are supposed to be? i have mj 1200's and the glass suction cup things wont stay stuck on the glass! thanks!

I glue the suction cup bracket itself onto the mag float so if I want to change out the pump to a new one or one of a different size, I just slide the old pump off and put on the new one and don't need to get a new magnet to mount it on. I have two mounted to large mag floats in my 120 and one mounted to a small mag float in my 10 gal.

they sell a magnetic cleaner at Wal-mart that is all black... cheaper than the Mag-float, isn't as thick, and the black makes it less obtrusive to the eye, just looks like part of the black PH

downside is they probably aren't quite as powerful as mag-floats, but they hold my MJ 1200's up just fine on my AGA 75, but never used them on a SEIO or similar PH

hmm a magnetic cleaner at walmart? i'll go up there tonite and give it a try... and if that doesnt work, off to the mag float idea! thanks for replying!

here's another similar option:

I've got one of these too, but I don't think they're really necessary for MJ's as they aren't that heavy and the mag floats hold them just fine for a cheaper price. Additionally, the Sure Grips are the same price at Premium Aquatics and you'd have them in 24 hours standard UPS vs however long it would take to get them from MD.

Not to sound sarcastic, but have you tried cleaning the glass and suction cups real good? If you use vinegar on the suction cups you can get all the coralline and stuff from the suction cup. When they are new, they work just fine...

I went to walmart and grabbed the mag floats there. They were $4.88 and seem to be working fine. I have a wave maker and they are not falling down yet after a day and a half. I have been fighting this for a pretty long time. And in response to the vinegar thing that only works so many times eventually they just dont stick anymore.
