Ok well im not fed up yet with the tank. everything is going great in the tank. EXCEPT for this dang cyano bacteria it seem like no matter what i do it still shows up and makes the tank look really bad. I added new powerheads to increase the flow. i had my water tested to make sure i had everything where it needed to be and it all came back great.
Does anyone else have any ideas because this is gettin really annoying... :eek2:

when you say you had your water tested, do you mean the water in your tank, or the water you use to do your water changes & top offs?

Test the water that you are putting in the tank with a TDS meter and make sure it is reading 0ppm. If it is reading anything take a look at your water source. Also try to cut back on the light exposure for the tank as well as reduce feedings. This is something that we all go through so don't sweat it. Stick with RO/DI water and if you don't have an RO/DI filter I suggest getting one ASAP.

im glad you cleared that up for me, seems your the man to ask, you helped me out on my thread to, im going threw that at this time also, i thought it was because i had no skimmer, but it was my RO water reading 44!!!!!!!!!! one point from my tap water, i learn i need to replace the membrain, im waiting on it to come in,

I get my water from a LFS and i have them test it when i get it and it all comes back 0ppm and i dont add tap water at anytime. I really only feed my fish one time a day and thats bout 7 at night. My lights could be on a little long they start at 8am to 8.

mabey start feeding every other day, when you do your water changes try to get as much out as you can at that time, blow some off with a turkey baster, if it settles on the sand into a clump try & scoop that out to,

everytime i do a water change almost ever week sometimes every other i get all that i can off the sand and rock.

Another question
Will this stuff hurt my corals in any way, if it gets to close to it or by it. I dont have many corals but i like the ones that i got ;)

i have it in my tank right now, because of my water, it sticks to my hard corls, they say it will smother them, i have to keep it blowed off, the next day its back on there, it dont seem to get on the soft corals, you want me to try & send a pic?

yes it will smother your corals if it gets to bad. try to cut your photo period back to 8 hours and see if that helps. A 12 hour photoperiod and feeding everyday will make cyano go crazy. Try feeding every other day as well. if that does not help (you won't see results overnight, more like a few days) then try the lights off for a few days. it won't hurt the corals unless you have some SPS and even then they should be fine.

if you would like...
Im thinking its my lights because i have some newer ones on order so that i can get that at least checked of one of the reasons and if that doesnt help then it has to be another one of the million reasons hehe

the corals that i have in my tank are some zoos, green star polyps and a toadstool leather and some xzenia will that hurt them if i turn the lights off for a couple days. and of course my rose anem.

It could be your lights.

Nothing, however, would suffer if you simply turn the lights out for 3 days...only the lights. The 4th day, run only the actinics for the normal period. The 5th day, put everything back to normal. But be sure to test your params daily while doing this, and be sure you don't have any untoward events.

Also be sure no windows are shining on the tank during the day.

150gal tank is going to take some time to balance out,if it is young. Is your biological filter established?(rock, sand). Do you have enough to handle the load( fish). You may not have any ammonia, nitrate that is not the end of the cycle.
