Feedback needed on Current USA lighting?

Im getting ready to order a 36inch, 2x150watt MH, with 4x37watt T5s, and 18 LEDs(blue and white moonlights)made by Current USA Outer Orbit. Does anyone use these lights or heard anything about them. Looking for some feedback..thanks!!! Also, does anyone know where I can get them for less than $630?

The Orbit is basically an upgraded Sunpod. I've got a sunpod and have been very happy with it. I would definitely consider an Orbit. The only prohibitive factor is that they are quite expensive, but then again you're paying for the complete system rather than having to piece it all together. My vote +1 it.

Do you think this lighting will be enough to add SPS and LPS corals and a clam on the sandbed? My tank is a 72 gallon bowfront.

I have the same setup as you.

I have the 48in Outer Orbit and I wish I would have gone with the 250 watt model that was not available at the time. I keep acros, and crocea clam and they grow but I think I would get better color and could keep them deeper with the 250s. Right now I have everything in the upper half of the tank.

Rhodescholar, Ok, so i should get the 36inch 2x250 watt? If i want to put more on the sand bed and lower in the tank and you think they would get better coloration as well?

That is my opinion. With the 250s you will be able to keep anything anywhere you want. IMO with the 150s you are better served keeping high light animals in the upper 1/2 to 1/4 of the tank.

Tank depth ulitmately dictates but since we both have the same tank I believe our depths are the same.

If some one wants to chime in and discredit my statement please do. I would like to keep my acros lower but I don't think the outcome will be good. If some one has success that is great and what I would like to hear.

I have the same unit on a 40 breeder and the sps corals are doing great. It's a nice lighting setup, and more convenient than what I have over my 75.

I have the 60" fixture on my 120- I also should have gone with the 250watt but I think it is a great setup.

How deep is your breeder? 18 inches or less? What kind of SPS are you keeping. I would love to try mine deeper but as I stated I don't think it will work.

By the way for anyone interested at exactly one year I replaced the stock bulbs with Giesemann 12.5 k megachromes and they rock in that setup. My corals are coloring up even more then where they ever were under the stock lamps and the overall color is very white/blue. I found the original bulbs to yellow.

Standard 40 breeder is 16 inches high, and I have a little bit of sand in there. The tank is mainly used as a frag tank, and has acros (chip's acros; humilis; some other ORA stuff); lots of montipora (caps and digis); and some others (stylo; birdsnest; blue ridge). Everything is tank-raised; I avoid wild-caught stuff. The acros have actually colored up since I got them, and it will be interesting to move them to my main reef w/ the 250s on it.
