Feeding acans, blasto, etc.

I spot feed my acans and blasto's at least 1 time a week and get good growth from them, especially the acans.

The blasto's, i thaw a big chunk of frozen cyclo peeze in just a little tank water so it is pretty think . I turn off the pumps and feed them each a squirt with a small syringes.

My acans i do the same with but alternate between frozen cyclopeeze and PE mysid. I will thaw a chunk and give as many heads as i can 1 shrimp each.

The blasto's wont grab the mysid quick enough and my tangs steal them from them so i gave up trying to feed them anything but the frozen cyclopeeze.

Target feeding for a better growth, but blasto merletti will survive for quite long without it, if the tank is fed by cyclop-eeze regularly.

It's a good idea to feed your reef at least once per week. If you have some favorite lps spot feeding ensures that they stay happy and boosts growth.

If you are going to use frozen foods (squid, mysis, krill etc.) be sure to thaw them in a cup of tank water and strain & discard the water. The binders used in frozen food can cause lots of issues from algae blooms to cyano.

If you feed more than once per week it's a good idea to go with a live food that you can add directly to the tank. It's healthier & more nutritious for your corals and promotes the growth of pods in your sandbed =)
