Feeding and how much is too much.

Napoleon I

Confirmed Addict
Here is my setup:
125 gallon tank with a 20 gallon fuge (no sand bottom) and about 20 gallons of sump capacity.

Large recirc skimmer
2 filter socks changed about every 3 days
My fish load is:
2 Black Clownfish not quite full grown
3 Tomato clowns not full grown
Yellow Tang
Naso Tang
3 Yellow Damsels
2 blue damsels
Small lawnmower blenny
Small Gobie

I have been feeding a pinch of flakes in the morning and in the evening about 2 cubes of mysis, a third of a cube of cyclopeze and sometimes another half cube of green food. (emerald diet or formula 2)

I know its a hard thing to judge without seeing but does this sound like too much? Its mostly gone in 5 minutes and what goes thru the filter is caught in the socks and removed every 3rd day on average.

Just looking for some general input and would like to know how much others feed.

How much goes through the filter? If it's only a few pieces, you're probably good. Do remember that it's best to have just a few scraps go uneaten and get caught in the rockwork for the cleaners to get.
Sounds alright... just keep an eye on them to make sure no one is gaining any weight.

Check phosphates as well. I like to feed too. Look at how much Saxby feeds! It's all in keeping the algae and Nitrates at bay right? Phosban reactor and weekly water changes allows for over feeding IME.

IMO you're not over feedimg until you provoke the wrath of the pest algae gods, mthe corsls are suffering or nifrates are really high. I would try to keep the food out of the sock or clean it out after feeding but that's just me. You might consider feeding the same amount of food twice or three time a day if you can instead of once.
