feeding and skimming?

What is everyones procedure for feeding? Do you shut all pumps, or just your skimmer? How long do you leave them off. When I feed, if I dont leave the skimmer off for at least an hour, it goes crazy. I may be slightly overfeeding, if I reduce the food, will this help?

are you talking fish food? i hope coral food? i usually turn my canister and protein skimmer off for 1 hour when feeding corals at night every other day. i am new to the sps, lps thing, so i also am interested in knowing what others do.

I have a homemade frozen food that I feed. It is just a mix of various store bought frozen foods. When it runs out, I plan on using a recipe I found on RC.

do you have the link for the recipe? i would be interested in looking at that, because the stuff i use is like $40, and i have heard that phytoplankton isnt even the best food to feed them.

I let everything run when feeding. Helps move some small food particles around to corals. My skimmer does go crazy for a little, but its only doing its job... :)

i dont mind if the skimmer was just pulling out extra, but it will overflow the cup in a few minutes.

Is this a sign of too much food, improper skimmer adjustment, or something else.

I don't have the link, I was planning to search for it when I need it.

i dont leave skimmer and pump on because i have 2 koralia 4s on the tank and that moves it around enough.

i think that you are either feeding too much or the skimmer is too "wet" what color/thickness is your skimmate. when i turn the skimmer back on it pulls more, but doesnt come close to filling the cup up.
