Feeding broccoli ?

I placed a Blue Regal Tang in QT 4 weeks ago. I noticed yesterday that he is in the beginning stages of HLLE. I researched this and found that broccoli was suggested for possible cure.

Today I placed a small head of broccoli in the tank and he has not touched it as of yet.

Is there anything I can do, to entice him to eat this?

Should I leave it raw or blanch it?

What do you guys do?

Should I just be more patient?

All help is greatly appreciated:)

Same thing happened to me, i put the broccoli in and he never touched it, he would eat the spirulina enriched shrimp cubes i fed but he ended up dieing after a few months. Although on a brighten note the crabs would gouge themselves on the broccoli

when i feed broccoli I cut the tops off so I get a whole bunch of the little tiny green circles and then feed to the tank in pinches. My clowns, damsel, and CB love it.

You may also want to try moving him to a hospital tank and treating with maracyn-two.

Steven,

Re: Until then, I agree with the broad recommendations of Terry Bartelme: reduce stress, improve nutritional regime, add vitamins and HUFA supplements to the diet, enhance water quality and also try beta glucan and garlic.

Thanks for the reply. I had previously read your column and have tried everything except the beta glucan.

Could you recommend a place to get this?

Thanks again

It should be available at health food stores. And, I believe one of the Marc Weiss products has it, but I can never remember which one.

Steven,

When I suggest Nori as a fish food, I always make it clear that some of these products are roasted, and as such have lost virtually all of the vitamin C (plus what else?). The commonly seen green flaked sheets is one product that I know is roasted. Other products are air-dryed and would be presumably more nutritious.
