Feeding goldentail eel

Hello all,

I have had an goldentail eel for about 4 months now, but he will only eat frozen krill. I have tried silversides and scallops but he will not eat them. My question is , Is this a healthy diet for long term health? Should I buy some kind of vitamins to soak the krill in? Is there something else I should try? I really love this eel and I want him to stay healthy. Thanks in advance.

Go to the fish market and you should be able to get everything you need. Try Squid, Octopus, Clam meat and pieces of fish like grouper. You should soak all you food in vitamins before feeding.

Thanks marrone, hey about those vitamins, where do I get them? And what kinds should I get? I looked at my LFS and didnt see any. Thanks again.

Go to some of the on-line places and look up vitamins and you'll find a bunch of different ones you can get.

My goldentail prefers raw shrimp and calamari steaks to fish flesh. You might try either of those two things to get him to eat. It is very important that they have a varied diet. I have heard that if you dont give them a choice what to eat, they will finally give in and eat what you want. Sounds like your eel has got you trained to give it what it wants, you need to train your eel to eat what it is given. Course I say that but I cant get mine to eat fish flesh, just shellfish and calamari.
