I have had my Mag now for about a 1.5 years.I also bought a alligator snapping turtle last year that is doing well.I fed him a few minnows the other day and one died after being put in his tank.So I had the idea of throwing it in the Mag.It ate it pretty quick and seems to be doing fine. That was three days ago.For those with anemones have you ever fed them minnows.

I would not do that if I were you. Don't feed your anemone dead or dying fish. The fish may died due to infection, then you are in for trouble.
After several mistakes after which I bang my head on the wall, I have decided to absolutely not feed my anemone anything I would not hesitant to eat.

Hey Ming, the minnow died from being in cold water to water thats 80 degrees.the fish died from shock.Fed the anemone some mysis this morning and ate as normal.i won't be feeding the mag minnows to often.

I wouldn't feed the mag anything you wouldn't eat. Minnows are horrible for anemones.

Ok,just another question.why would minnows be so horrible for anemones. If they are freshly killed.I can understand a sick or minnow that has been dead to long could harmful

I think it's best to try and mimic their natural environment and feeding habits in order to keep them as healthy as possible. I wouldn't feed minnows to a sea anemone.

I imagine they do have nutritional value for your mag. Although minnows aren't saltwater fish, and thus may not be as rich in the fatty acids a marine fish would have, I expect the mag can digest a good bit of nutrition from them.

Thanks guys, the anemone is doing great.i think the chance of infection would less of a chance than feeding silversides.Like GaryB stated nutritional wise it might not be the best.I was curious and wanted to see how the anemone would do.I probably won't do this again.
