I feed both (although I buy flat packs not cubes) at the same time. Some fish prefer one, some prefer the other. Leopard Wrasses prefer PE mysis, anthias prefer Hikari mysis. I also feed Roggers food, cyclopeeze, live black worms, clams on the half shell, Nutramar Ova.
I too feed both, but not at the same time. I actually never feed foods mixed together. IME it runs the risk of certain fish always picking out their favorite, and getting a less diverse diet.
There is two variations of Hikari mysis. One is smaller than PE and the other is larger than the PE. The main staple for my fish, and preferred, is the smaller hikari mysis. Except the larger fish they like the larger Hikari. I don't think I have a single fish that doesn't eat the hikari small mysis. The one thing with PE is there seems to be a seasonal batch quality as some they go crazy over and others not as much.
PE Mysis is my main food, but I have to provide Hikari mysis for my little regal angel, he's to little to eat the bigger pieces from the PE Mysis! I have been feeding my seahorses Hikari, because they were raised on that, but recently I have been giving them some PE too, since they're getting bigger. They seem to manage to eat it in 1 or one and a half bites. There's a lot more eating in a hunk of PE Mysis. My friend Trimmer said that my copperband is so fat it needs Nutrasystem.
I'm feeding PE right now, but I have noticed its a big large for some of my wrasses. Most of them grab and piece and swim around for a sec with it sticking out of their mouth. I see most spitting it out so it breaks up, and then eat the smaller pieces.
I'm going to pick up some smaller mysis next week, thanks for the reminder thread that the Hikari is smaller
