Feeding Questions

My near dead mantis(N. Wennarae 2.5") seems to be making a pretty good recovery. He seems pretty active and is eating in his new home. Yesterday and today he has taken a small piece of shrimp. I added some more LR but he still lives in a plastic pipe. I also through in a hitchhiker snail that hes ignored so far.

Can he survive on fish market shrimp alone or should I try to very his diet some?

Is an eraser sized bit of shrimp once a day enough food?

I read they can be trained, has anyone managed to do this?

Instead of just dropping in the shrimp today I stuck the shrimp on the end of a plastic scewer. I made the little bugger chase his meal around for a a minute or 2 before I let loosened it and let him take it. The first time he struck the shrimp with his claw defineately surporsed me.

I'm trying to get him out of his cave more and more. He seems very skidish but I guess its understandable seeing what he been through in the past few weeks.

Hi,

My mantis eat pretty much anything. Frozen shrimp, formula one pellets, astrea snails, etc. They prefer snails but shrimp is next on their list, followed by the prepared stuff.
