I picked up a small rbta about the size of a dime. How often should I feed. Right now i'm feeding him 1 or 2 PE Mysis shrimp every 2 days. Is this o.k.
keep feeding what you are. As he gets bigger, resist feeding larger bits since large bits actually cost the anemone more in digesting them than they give it in nutrition. Good luck!
If you got it from a split, then it's a BTA. Just a tiny one. Whatever the case, what you're doing is good, shrimp, fresh scallop etc. are also likely to be eaten, just tiny portions.
Be careful not to overfeed. If you are over feeding it, the food starts to rot inside of the anemone and it will kill the anemone. Give it 1 large mysis, then once it expells the waste, feed it again. Good luck!
IDK, but I did the exact same thing once with a tiny RBTA and he grew about 1" in a few months. When he died (I was on vacation) he was 2.5" and I'd had him about a year. However, this was in the bottom of the tank under 110w PC lighting, so for somebody with T5 or MH it should grow about 4" or bigger in a year. How big it gets doesn't matter, it's how healthy it is.
I got a RBTA from a friend that was about the same size (a dime... maybe smaller) and in 3 months it is now almost 3" in diameter and hosting a small Tomato Clown. I feed it a small slice of clam once a week... sometimes twice. It seems to be doing just fine. BTW, I also have a green Long Tentacle Anemone that is over 18" in diameter and has been in my tank for almost 6 years.
