Feeding seaweed sheets

I get the Sushi Nori from the grocery store in 8"x8" sheets. I cut them is 1/4's.
I take one of those pieces and fold it in 1/4's and place the raw edges in the clip. The fish have to work to get their veggies and the tank stays clena most of the time.

reading these articles has given me a better way to feed Nori...firstly Nori, the cost of a packet of Nori is defiantly over the top...$10 nearly for just a few sheets of Seaweed.
Living now in Asia I have found that the wholesale markets have the same seaweed there in packets that sell for the same price but you get a few hundred sheets 8"x10"
I looked into this and it is the same as the seaweed sold in the LFS
I just cut each sheet in half and then fold it up to be about 1.5" square and then put it on a clip ...out with the scissors and cut 6 strips into the seaweed and then into the tank it goes
results are all the seaweed eating fish ...Naso tang. foxface 3 dwarf angels and even the hermit crabs are fat and healthy

I have a Grazer and my fish and I both love it! Used to use a clip and got tired of all the bits and pieces getting torn off and getting stuck to my rock after floating around my tank as well as having to only put like 1/4 sheet on it at a time to only last a couple of hours. With the grazer I can load a couple of full sheets in it, easily pour some garlic over it and throw it in the tank and it will last them a couple of days. And no more pieces coming off and floating around.

I rubber band a 4"x4" piece , folded four times, to a piece of 1" diameter PVC pipe. I use fishing line to lower and lift the pipe in/out of the water. I prefer this because my kole tang scrapes the seaweed off a flat surface and doesn't like pulling pieces off of a clip. The regal and the yellow could care less.

IMO, the Omega one seaweed is crap. I used it once (Still have almost a whole pack of it in the cupboard) and I had pieces of it everywhere in the tank. Fish literally swim by it and it flakes apart. Doesn't matter what you attach it with. I'd get a different type. The Emerald Cove (Comes in a greenish bag) is a non-toasted, dried reddish seaweed that is excellent. When it does break apart, it's because a fish tore off a large piece and didn't eat it all.

DIY. I stuff meaty goodies inside my nori rolls too

The harder they have to work to get to the nori, the more they care about holding on to it. If a piece does fly off, the fish scamper to grab it vs. ignoring it to get at the big section.

$25.00 for this? LOL

If you have 1/4" netting and some zip ties and a magnet you can make your own

You found a price for these things? Bravo. All I found were bloviated ad-speak nonsense about this and other products.

But I mean that in the most positive sense.

IMO, best way to feed nori is to split it among 4-5 different clips to make sure all the herbs have a chance for a munch.

Hi...I have 3 of the innovative marine algae grazers...I love them...no more seaweed floating around the tank....

+1 on the grazer. WAY better than the clip, and the nori lasts much longer. I tried making my own, and it worked fine, it just didn't look so nice. My fish freaked a little at first also, but soon my Tang, and Wrasses took right to it. I didn't love the omega either, it just made a mess, and half of it ended up in my filter.
I started buying nori from the LFS until I saw he was just repackaging a larger bag from an Asian grocery. I bought the same amount for $2 instead of ten, and I figure I made up the cost of the grazer.

Get the nori from Amazon! Even cheaper.

Make a plastic cage for $1.50 and glue a clip to any magnet you're already using.

I have DIY nori feeder. I used a piece of acrylic and have a clip attached at the bottom with a zip tie. At the top I have a plastic 'U' that slides over the edge of the tank. I then fold the sheet until it is a 1x1 square and place it in the clip. Not messy at all.
