Feeding sponges by dosing sugar?

Has anyone tried to feed ornamental sponges by dosing sugar? I don't know if this has been discussed before but I would think that could work to keep them thriving since sugar dosing is said increases water born bacteria concentrations and academic research shows sponges filter water born bacteria for consumption.

I do dose vinegar and sugar. I also see that sponges are growing through the tank. Be aware that sugar an vinegar are carbon sources ( like vodka) and will lower you nitrate and phosphate.
So you need to closely watch your nitrate and phosphate not to drop to low.
For this reason i dose nitrate an phosphate to keep the levels steady at 2ppm and 0,04ppm
